Dr. Kunadian is an academic interventional cardiologist based at the Institute of Cellular Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom.
She completed her fellowship in general and interventional cardiology in the Northern Deanery at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. She further received her Doctor of Medicine academic degree with Commendation from Newcastle University for her research on the assessment of coronary flow and the applicability of angiographic parameters in modern digital cardiac catheter laboratories. Her keen interest in research led her to undertake additional research training as an international research fellow at the TIMI/PERFUSE Angiographic Core Lab, Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.
Her research interests include angiographic evaluation of coronary artery blood flow and perfusion, acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, contrast media, contrast nephropathy, radiation safety in cardiac catheterization laboratory, peripheral vascular disease among patients with coronary artery disease, revascularization strategies in high-risk population. She has presented her work at all of the major cardiology scientific sessions in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. She continues to publish her work in several peer-reviewed journals on the above topics. Her academic and clinical achievements during her training were recognized during the TCT 2010 Thomas J. Linnemeier Young Investigator Award ceremony where Dr. Kunadian was one of three finalists. She continues her research program at Newcastle University evaluating strategies to improve cardiovascular outcomes among high-risk patients.
In addition to her involvements with SecondsCount.org, Dr. Kunadian is an active member of SCAI and SCAI’s Women in Innovations group.
