• Are There any Risks Associated with PFO Closure?

    6/14/2017

Complications after device closure are very uncommon but may include bleeding around the area where the device was first inserted into the body or around the heart, an air embolism (meaning a small air bubble trapped in a blood vessel), or heart rhythm disturbances. A full list of risk information can be found here. However, these complications are uncommon and most patients are able to return home within 24 hours.
