Mitral Valve Stenosis
Symptoms
Mild or moderate mitral valve stenosis may not cause any symptoms but may be detected by the presence of a heart murmur during a routine checkup. Symptoms of severe mitral valve stenosis may include the following:
- Shortness of breath or breathing fast
- Palpitations (heart fluttering)
- Lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
- Difficulty gaining weight, especially in infants and small children
